14-Year-Old Dies After Drowning at Field Pond in Andover

A tragic drowning at Harold Parker State Forest has left the Andover community mourning after a 14-year-old boy died Tuesday afternoon at Field Pond.

According to emergency radio reports and preliminary information from authorities, first responders were dispatched to Field Pond shortly before 5 p.m. after receiving reports that a teenage boy had gone underwater and failed to resurface.

Multiple law enforcement agencies, fire departments, dive teams, and emergency medical crews rushed to the scene as an extensive water rescue operation unfolded inside the state forest.

Emergency officials requested specialised dive teams and aerial drone support to assist in the search efforts, including crews from the Beverly Fire Department.

Witnesses at the pond described a frantic scene as rescuers searched the water while family members and bystanders watched anxiously from shore.

“It was heartbreaking,” one witness said. “Everyone was hoping they would find him in time.”

Authorities later confirmed that the teenager was located and pulled from the water. CPR was immediately initiated at the scene as paramedics worked desperately to save the child’s life.

Emergency crews reportedly coordinated for possible MedFlight transport, with plans to transfer the teenager through Lawrence General Hospital before transport to Boston for advanced medical care.

Despite lifesaving efforts, the teen was later pronounced dead.

Officials have not yet publicly released the victim’s identity pending notification of family members.

The drowning has shaken residents throughout the Andover community, as many expressed condolences and prayers for the family following the devastating incident.

Authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning.
