Missing Ocean City Teenager Found Dead After Disappearing While Boogie-Boarding
A tragic search operation off the coast of Ocean City ended in heartbreak Tuesday morning after a missing 19-year-old swimmer was found dead in the water following an overnight search involving multiple emergency agencies.
Rescue crews from the Ocean City Beach Patrol, United States Coast Guard, and New Jersey State Police had been searching intensely since Monday afternoon after the teenager disappeared while boogie boarding near the 10th Street beach.
Authorities said the emergency response began around 4:52 p.m. Monday after reports that a swimmer had gone missing in the water.
According to the Coast Guard, one individual was rescued from the surf by Ocean City Beach Patrol personnel. That person told responders the 19-year-old had been on a boogie board when he was struck by a wave and failed to resurface.
The incident quickly triggered a massive multi-agency search operation along the shoreline and surrounding waters.
Chopper footage captured dramatic scenes as nearly two dozen people formed a human chain in the ocean in an effort to help locate the missing teenager while rescue boats and emergency crews searched nearby waters.
Emergency officials continued searching throughout the night, with local first responders receiving support from the Coast Guard and State Police during the extensive operation.

An emergency update issued around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday confirmed the search remained active overnight before authorities later recovered the teenager’s body from the water.
The identity of the victim has not yet been publicly released pending notification of family members.
The tragedy has left the Ocean City community shaken, as residents and beachgoers expressed condolences for the teen’s family and everyone involved in the difficult recovery effort.
Officials have not released additional details regarding the circumstances surrounding the drowning as the investigation continues.
Authorities continue reminding swimmers and beach visitors about the dangers of changing surf conditions, strong currents, and unpredictable waves along the Jersey Shore.
